Thanks Twins
Thank you, Minnesota Twins, for miserably failing in the post-season and losing your last game in the Metrodome ever.
If you have the attitude of, “It’s not that much”;...

Dubuque, IA is Famous
The Forgotten, a new show on ABC, aired last night. The missing girl in the show is from Dubuque, IA. Here’s a video clip proving it. I also think that this clip is an actual shot from downtown Dubuque. Do you agree with me?
Sixteen million seven hundred eighty two thousand...
The new Cowboys stadium just set a new record for a regular season game attendance. 105,121. That’s more people than live in Midland.
According to ESPN, the average cost of a Cowboys ticket is $159.65. Multiply that out and they just raked in $16,782,567.70 in ticket sales alone (this doesn’t include concessions and memorabilia).
Holy cow (boy).
Obama on Kanye West
I find it amazing that President Obama can get away with calling anybody a “jack***” and not get incredible repercussions from it. If Bush had said anything like that—especially about a black person—he would’ve nearly been impeached.
And then Obama goes onto say “c’mon guys, cut me some slack. I’ve got a lot on my plate” O RLY?!?!? So that...

MBC Men's Softball - Game #3
Final score:
MBC - 9 Other team - 12
We played at 7:30pm, for the first time on a dry field.
I played left field defensively. Fairly quiet. A few line drives, and a couple pop-ups. This was the first game I had to play looking into the sun. For the first few innings I could barely see the ball until it was hit. Made things kinda interesting.
Offensively, I kinda sucked it up. My first at bat I...

Midland to Dallas and Back Again
Today I drove to Dallas (actually I drove to Carrollton, which is a suburb of Dallas). There was a Men’s Breakfast at 8am this morning at church, so I went there and then left at 9:05am. The drive was supposed to be 5 hours, but due to the rain, there were a bunch of accidents in Dallas which caused traffic jams, so the trip ended up taking an extra 40 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes for...

MBC Men's Softball - Game #2
Final score:
MBC - 17 Other team - 7
We played at 9:30pm, after another rainy evening. It was in the 70s but muggy.
I got placed from last in the batting order to the #1 batting spot for this game. I also moved defensively from left field to center.
My first at bat was a walk. I wanted to swing, but the pitcher wasn’t giving me anything close. The 2nd batter walked, with the third...

Offsite Data Backup →
BackBlaze looks like a great service to use for offsite data backup. I’ve just started backing up my two Mac’s to this service. I use TimeMachine so that I always have a local backup of all my data, but if there was a fire or something, I could potentially lose everything—unless I have it stored offsite.

MBC Men's Softball - Game #1
Final score:
MBC - 22 Other team - 21
We played at 7:30pm, with the weather clearing up just before game time.
I haven’t played softball since Emmaus, so it’s been 2 seasons. I didn’t expect to play very well since I wouldn’t be in the swing of things, but thankfully, I was wrong.
I played out in left field, and the first batter popped it up to left center. I was able...

Caleb's Secrets to Free Meals
Be single. Seriously. Being a young bachelor apparently makes people feel sorry for you or something. I guess they must think that you really don’t want to and/or can’t cook (and they would be correct on the “don’t want to” part for me).
Love food. Don’t be picky. Eat everything and anything. You really need to love food, and express this love as much as...

One Year Anniversary
Monday, August 17, 2009 was my one year anniversary of moving to Midland, Texas. And I wasn’t ever there to celebrate it. Sad day.

Uganda Report #2
It’s the morning of Monday, August 17th. Glen headed back to Mbale on Saturday morning. The original plan was for me to go with him, but I chose to stay behind in Soroti. There wasn’t going to be really anything for me to do in Mbale, and I wanted to have a chance over the weekend to go out and take some pictures and walk around Soroti. Glen is supposed to be coming back this morning...

The Russia Story
The journey began on the morning of July 16th, 2009 in Midland, TX. My roommate, Paul, and I headed over to Andy’s house to pick him up. From there we headed to the Midland International Airport. Our flight to Houston left at 10:30am that morning. About an hour and a half after the Uganda missions team from Midland Bible Church flew out of the same airport. In Houston, we had about a 3 hour...
Uganda Report - I'm Alive
I’m hanging onto the rest of the world by a thread. I’m online via a cell phone data connection. It’s as slow as dialup, but it works. I’m busy, so I’ll make this quick, but I just wanted everyone to know that I am still alive. Kampala was great. Got in late Sunday night after getting about 2 hrs of sleep on the plane (and no sleep the previous night due to having to...
Goodbye Russia
I’m heading to the Moscow airport in 28 minutes. It’s currently 1:32am here on Sunday, August 9th. My flight leaves at 5:50am. After a layover in Amsterdam, and a total of 11.5 hrs in the air, I will arrive in Uganda about 8:30pm (I gain one hour on the way).
EXCITING NEWS: You can now view all my pictures from Russia on my Flickr account. I’ve even broken them out into fun...
Free Healthcare
A couple days after getting to the camp, I started to get a little cough. It wasn’t too bad, and I assumed it would go away pretty quickly. It didn’t. We go to Moscow and I still had it. I thought it was starting to get better over the weekend, but I was wrong. It’s usually not to bad during the day, but at night, I wake up a few times and have a fun coughing session.
So, today,...
Technology Sucks
So all day Saturday, I was looking forward to coming home from souveneir shopping and getting to talk online with Kristin. We got home late, and I jumped online, but she wasn’t on yet. Then, a few minutes later, our internet connection cut out. It’s been down ever since. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, we believe somebody forgot to the pay the bill. Hopefully service will be...

I'm Alive!
We pulled into the Moscow train station at 10am this morning after a 19 hour train ride. After a finding a taxi and finally getting to our apartment, it was about 11:30am. We have internet here, so for the first time since July 16, I was able to turn on my MacBook. It was a glorious reunion between us.
I’ve finished reading the 200 emails in my inbox, and I’ve caught up on some...
Greetings From the Summer Camp Team!
Dear All, Greetings from the Volga river camp! We have 28 kids and many of them have put their trust in Christ, praise God! The Gospel has been presented in many creative ways by pastor Timor, Olga, Roma, Nina. The adults as well as the campers really want to learn English, it makes it fun for the “linguists!” The guys are doing a great job as “sport makers!” Everybody...

We are swimming a lot. The kids and staff are awesome! Thus far, only one of our air mattresses is dead. blog update
Sunday July 19, 7:44 a.m. Clickity clack, clickity clack, clickity clack … . Just to give you a quick update. The summer camp team met yesterday afternoon for orientation here in Moscow and subsequently left for the train station. The team loaded all of the luggage into a taxi and after giving the overloaded taxi a push to get it going, the team traveled by metro to the train station. They...
Goodbye World...err...United States
I’m all packed and am now just finishing loading up my iPod in final preparation for hours of boredom in planes and airports over the next two days as I head to Russia.
Watch this blog for updates during my five weeks of adventures in Russia and Uganda.

New research shows that night-owls get more work done than early risers. More proof that I should have a 10-7/11-8 workday.

Camp Update
Camp is going well. I love being at this God-filled (rather than forsaken) place of awesomeness. Sadly, I already have less than 48 hours to enjoy it (and get some other stuff done here). I’m planning on leaving Saturday morning after breakfast, and I’m not looking forward to it.
I’m going to be traveling a different route back to Midland. This time I’m going south to I-20...
Here We Go!
I’m leaving early Friday morning to head towards North Carolina. I will be driving 13 hours from Midland to Jackson, TN where I’ll spend Friday night and Saturday hanging out with my friend Andrew Boom. Sunday morning I’ll leave Jackson and drive the last 8 hours of the trip to Hickory Cove Bible Camp.
As always, live GPS tracking will be available on my website.
The past few...

Photography Lightbox
I decided to build a lightbox tonight. Here’s where I got inspiration and building plans.
It took me about 45 minutes to put together—and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I think I need to get some better lighting. My lamp didn’t seem to produce enough, but overall they turned out ok, and it was fun to have:

Words of Wisdom
Don’t rub your eyes after eating Sour Cream & Onion chips. It will make you cry.
Happy Mother's Day
I <3 my mom.
I grow up. I get taller. I get balder. But my mom—no, she never changes. She has always been the woman in my life who’s loved me for all 696,556,800 seconds I’ve been alive. It never mattered how much I was a jerk and inconsiderate—she loves me. It doesn’t matter how often I’ve taken it for granted—she loves me.
She loves me, and I love her. I love her for her Godly character....

My Self-Watering Garden
I planted three kinds of vegetables about 3 weeks ago. Here is a visual update on their progress:
Chives
Green Beans
Green Peppers
98 degrees
No, not the boy band. 98 is the current temperature outside (3:13pm). Sounds miserable right? Well, it’s not really all that bad thanks to a humidity level of 9% and a dew point of 30 degrees. Nonetheless, it’s still not as nice as my 70 degree office.
